How the feature meter organizes the game
AFK Airport Security places a feature meter above its five-reel, three-row game area. The meter gives each airport event a visible identity and makes a large mechanic set easier to follow. Instead of presenting twelve unrelated effects in hidden menus, the game ties them to checkpoint situations, baggage problems, cabin upgrades and flight connections.
The features fall into practical groups: symbol control, Wild creation, symbol splitting, multiplier changes and directional evaluation. Understanding those groups is more useful than treating every name as an isolated event. The sections below explain what each effect changes and how similar effects differ from one another.
Symbol control
Quarantine and Full Body Scanner reduce low symbols
Quarantine prevents one or two randomly selected low-paying symbols from appearing on the reel area once the effect is active. Removing symbols narrows the available low-value set. Full Body Scanner takes a different route: it chooses one or two low-paying symbols already relevant to the outcome and replaces every selected instance with one random high-paying symbol.
Both features address lower-value symbols, but one changes availability while the other performs a conversion. This distinction matters when reading the meter. Quarantine is a filtering effect. Full Body Scanner is a transformation effect that creates matching high symbols across the visible reels.
Mystery and Wilds
Not My Bag, Arm Slides and Random Security Search
Not My Bag places between three and six mystery symbols at random positions. Every mystery symbol then reveals the same regular paying symbol, creating a coordinated set rather than several unrelated reveals. Random Security Search selects one, two or three regular paying symbols and turns every selected instance into a Wild.
Arm Slides works only when Wilds are already present. It expands each visible Wild to cover its entire reel. The normal Wild substitutes for regular symbols but not the Bonus symbol. These three effects therefore cover three stages of reel development: add matching symbols, convert symbols into Wilds, and expand existing Wilds vertically.
Symbol splitting
Extra Seat Space and Full Row Booking increase symbol density
Extra Seat Space selects one regular paying symbol and splits every visible instance into two. Full Row Booking selects one, two or three reels and splits all symbols on those reels, excluding Bonus symbols. The first effect follows a symbol identity across the grid; the second follows reel positions and can affect several symbol types together.
Splitting changes how much information can fit into the original five-by-three footprint. The outer dimensions stay stable, but selected positions hold smaller symbol segments. That lets the game create more matching opportunities without changing to a permanently taller or wider reel set.
Combined changes
Lithium-ion Batteries links Wilds with adjacent splits
Lithium-ion Batteries selects one or two regular paying symbols and replaces them with Wilds. It then splits every adjacent symbol into two, with the Bonus symbol excluded. Adjacency includes the immediate positions around the new Wilds, so placement determines how much of the grid receives the secondary change.
This effect combines two mechanic families that appear separately elsewhere on the meter. Random Security Search provides broad Wild conversion, while Extra Seat Space and Full Row Booking provide splitting. Lithium-ion Batteries joins both ideas in one localized event and gives the new Wild positions a clear center of influence.
Value modifiers
Class Upgrade and Air-Mile Multiplier use x3 to x10
Class Upgrade selects one regular paying symbol and gives all visible instances a multiplier of x3, x5, x8 or x10. The multiplier is attached to that chosen symbol group. Air-Mile Multiplier reveals a value from x3, x5, x8 or x10 and applies it to every win created during the event.
The shared multiplier range makes the effects visually related, but their calculation scope is not identical. Class Upgrade is symbol-specific. Air-Mile Multiplier is outcome-wide. Clear labels on the meter help communicate which type is active before the result is counted.
Movement and direction
Turbulence and Connecting Flight alter reel evaluation
Turbulence shuffles all non-winning symbols and leaves Bonus symbols in place. Existing multiplier values and symbol sizes remain attached through the shuffle. It is therefore a second arrangement of the unused material on the reels rather than a complete reset of the screen.
Connecting Flight pays winning combinations in both directions. Most feature names change what occupies the reels, but Connecting Flight changes how combinations are read. It gives the meter a directional effect alongside replacement, expansion, splitting and multiplier effects.
